I have a lady I work for who is an artist and this originally was purchased by her in New York. She is in her 80's now and was active in the New York art world in the 1960's and 1970's. I know (think) that Lea Halpern moved to New York from Europe in the 1940's - but I just love her use of texture - she was so, so innovative and so bold~
What a great vase! Halpern examples don't turn up often and are very desireable to collectors in both the US and Europe.
