Looks like a neck apron. What is this?

Hi! I need help in identifying this please. I bought it from a rummage sale where most of the items looks vintage. It looks like an apron for the neck and chest area as it has strings on top and on both sides. The fabric is satin and the embroidery is I think machine made. Thanks in advance!
