This Statue was purchased around Jokahama Japan around 1967 while stationed in Japan on Johnson Air Force Base Japan.
It was shipped back to the USA and has remained in the family ever since.
Here is what I know about it.
It is made of Iron and Brass or Bronze. It weighs approximately 13lbs and the measurements are 12" long x 10" tall x 6" wide
It is the male Foo Lion Dog that was thought to protect the dwellings from evil outside intruders and spirits. This statue has 9 swirls, 6 on the rear, 3 on thigh area and 3 on the front, 1 centered on the chest just below the head and 1 on each front shoulder. The strongest Foo Dog would have 13 swirls placing this Foo Lion Dog Statue in the upper ranks.
I am trying to find out the origin of this Statue and its approximate age.
