I just received this passport from a fellow collector in Asia. The passport was marked with the letter "J" to signify that the bearer was a Jew. After the 5 of October 1938 all passports of German Jewish citizens were marked with the now infamous "J". It appears the bearer escaped Germany through France and arrived in South America. I believe that this is an important historical document from a very dark period in history. Items like this need to be saved as a memorial to the Holocaust.

I'm sure the end of the war disrupted shipping in Germany. That being said the condition of the KZ prisoners was the result of deliberate mistreatment by the Nazis. Not a month or so of low rations.

Mistreatment is not a strong enough word. The condition of the KZ prisoners was the result of the Nazis trying to destroy all the people they considered to be subhuman.
