    Hello,

This is my dad's old wood plane. I've done a lot of Googling to try and find out what it is, and I believe that it is a Primus Smoothing Plane by E.C. Emmerich in Germany. This link shows their current products, and as you can see, apart from upgrades to the design the basic design is almost identical, especially the toothing plane at the bottom of this page: http://www.thebestthings.com/newtools/planes_nt.htm

However, this is the antique version. It was given to my dad while he was doing his apprenticeship as a young man in England in the late 1950's. He says that the plane was already old at that time and had come from Europe. He didn't know anything more than that. So, it seems to be an earlier production version of what is still available today. However, I cannot find any pictures of this particular plane on the internet. Does anyone know anything more about it?

    Thanks in advance,
    David A. Moody

When I first saw it I thought of Germany as I have seen some pictures of it being used. Love the patina on the piece.
