    I believe this is a Vernis Martin chair. Can't find another chair like it but the painting and Walnut is right on. There is a marking on the bottom rung but I can't make it out. The seat is in such good shape because there has always been a rule in our whole family... "Don't touch the chair!" I know he did more cabinets desks, and such then chairs. I checked with my mom and the seat has never been replaced or repaired.

    I believe it's late 1800's. The details on the arms and legs and shape..... Plus the courting french painting are all classic signs of his. Love input!
