Cufflinks - does anyone know what (or if) the stone is?

I picked these cufflinks up the other day because I was intrigued by the stone (or glass or plastic) in the center. I don't think they are gold and don't know what the stone is in the center but in the light it is really pretty -- lots of gold and green in it.
Does anyone have any idea what it might be? thanks as always.
