Two mechanical hammer drills.

The first drill by the Rawlplug Co. was made from the late 1930's to the 1950's and is probably a higher quality tool with the mechanism being completely encased. The second drill is called "The Rapper" and certainly makes plenty of noise.
In both drills the force is controlled by a wing-nut and both have changeable bits for boring masonry. The handle of the Rawlplug drill can be changed over to the other side but the handle for the second drill operates on the one side only.
