Christopher Columbus Coins, Unopened package

These are Gold finished coins (2 I believe) that commemorate the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' 'founding' of America (1492-1992).
The mystery is that I don't know what coins are in the box. It is sealed with plastic and I can't find any information about the value of mystery coins sealed in the (seemingly) original plastic. I know that some Columbus coins are worth more than others, but without opening the box, I don't know what coins are in there. I also know that with other collectibles, items in the original packaging are usually worth a lot more. But does the latter apply to coins? Or should I open it to definitively see what's inside? If anyone has any advice, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thank you!
