Beautiful Acorn Basket, made by Eric "Otter" Bacon of the Passamaquoddy Tribe. Signed and dated 2024, this 3-inch basket and stem is made from splints of Black Ash and tiny braids of Sweet Grass that make up the Cap of the Acorn. The basket can either lie on its side or stand up using the leather ring.

@PhilDMorris That is the incredible talent of these Wabanaki basket makers. I've watched many, like Otter, Jeremy Frey, Sarah Sockbeson, Ann Mitchell, and so many more. Watched them come into their own and see the incredible work they envision and create. They learned from their families' artistry from past generations, and then they take all of it and add their own ideas to create something amazing. I have examples from so many of them in my home.
I love it all so much, and not just these tribes: I love all of Native American artistry. My own father was a folk art painter; I have so many canvases of his work in my home and my family home, where my son now lives. My collection will go to my son Chris, he loves it all like I do. :)
