In World War Two the legendary P-51 Mustang was both a fighter plane and bomber plane escort. Mustang pilots claimed to have destroyed an estimated 4950 enemy aircraft during the war. Chuck Yeager achieved most of his aerial victories as a P-51 Mustang fighter pilot on the western front
