I bought this jug at a thrift shop in Colorado a couple of years ago. It had a light socket in it and was sitting with a bunch of other lamps.
It had a price of $2.50 on it (I think they thought the adaptation ruined the jug). After I got it to the car I found the light was held in by a cork and the jug was not damaged. It has the name "JAMES" written in blue cobalt script. The Hart family made stoneware in Fulton, N.Y.
After some research, I found that there was a James Hart and this might have been made for him. Thanks for lookin!!! Rob

THANKS everyone for the love its!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
