I like old wood so I had to get this. But i have np clue what it does. Can anyone offer me some ideas

Almost positive it is the tightening screw for an all wood clamp.
I have one also!
It does look like the tightening screw for a wood vice... My old wood vice has one similar! just saw it on ebay under vices.
