This Chinese coin was left to me in my Grandmother.

The Coin is 18ct Solid Gold and has a plastic dome on each side to protect it and is then trimmed in 18ct Gold and the total weight is 20.9 grams.

I am finding it difficult to find some one in Scotland to value it and wondered if anyone knew more about this or some other website that could help.

Why do you delete the full description I gave you for your item and then still leave it as "Unsolved Mystery" ?
    3. tricks11, 13 years ago

I don't know who did - I am new on here and thought the comments section was for helping to identify items. - Anyway, here is the info again:
This is a 2000 Year of the Dragon Medallion issued by the British Royal Mint for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
**- Info below is the medallion only without the bezel
      Diameter - 28.40mm / Weight 15.97 gms (about 1/2 oz)
      Gold fineness .9166 (22kt) / Gold content .4708
Total minted 10,000 pieces / Condition - Proof
The medallion was issued in a special presentation box with a numbered certificate of authenticity. The bezel was added later so it could be worn on a necklace and may be 18kt gold as you say.

The coin was given to me without the box and certificate does this devalue the coin?
    9. aghcollect aghcollect, 13 years ago
Based on the one I saw for sale, the value is based on the gold content. The box and certificate would only authenticate it further but it certainly does not look like a fake to me. I don't think the lack would devalue the coin itself. If you go to the website I gave in comment #1, scroll down to the 2000 Millenium Medallion, click on it, and it will tell you what they are selling it for in british pounds and in american dollars.
