I found this at Urban Ore the other day. i love worked burl stuff! i'd guess mid-century - 1970s? it stands 5" tall x 4.5" wide. I assume it's a bud vase. i wonder what kind of wood it is made from?

Looks like sycamore grain to me , hard to tell as it looks like its had a coating of some sort , cool find , unusual ! ;-)
there's no coating on it whatsoever. i just used wood wax, after going over it w/ a very fine steel wool.
Very, very nice looking piece. Based on the pictures I would guess it is either burl from a Yew tree or spalted sycamore burl.
