Looks like a Japanese statue 27" tall 10 lbs... possibly ivory or bone... with artist signature on bottom

Hi George! Look up Schreger lines for detecting ivory, invaluable info! As for the mark, we will wait for the experts :) a Nice statue!
By the shape it looks like a tusk !! Marine or elephant , ivory or resin i would've thought :-)

After looking closely I found a few broken pieces on it and a crack that had been glued.. It doesn't appear to be ivory. Im thinking alabaster or something similar.. the key may be in the signature on the bottom
