- Charles Knox developed the world's first pre-granulated gelatine in 1890. Upon the death of Mr. Charles B. Knox, the responsibilities of the business were assumed by his wife, Mrs. Rose M. Knox who ran the company for another 40 years until the age of 93. -- The Knox brand is now owned by Kraft Foods and still produced.
