Sterling Silver Tray - Japanese [or Chinese] from early 1900's

My mother got it ~1944, probably as a wedding gift. I have been told that it is at least 150 years old. A precious metals jeweler has advised that it is sterling silver, though there is no visible 92.5 marking, perhaps that wasn't the norm in Asia so long ago.

Center part of the tray appears to be etched scenery; my guess is Chinese [could be Japanese] travelers taking a break.

Border frame appears to be an embossed series of travel-type images.

There are four 'legs'; image on right shows one of them.

Paper at center of image of full tray shows markings on back of tray. MK + Chinese [chop] or Japanese symbol.

Size of marking: MK is ~4mm W x 2mm; Chop/ Hanko ~2 mm W x 5mm
