The picture is Pegasus and under the hooves are 3 double circles and in each circle is a letter the letters are J S T ( I Think)
Written under Pegas is the word Vitreous.

I thought this was a vintage powder box/container.

Any help appreciated.

I found this at a Garage Sale for .75 when vacationing in Pennsylvania. No cracks or nicks but plenty of crazing.

They don't seem to have made vanity items. Just click on one of the boxes under the Taylor, Smith & Taylor, and a wide variety on the named line is shown. Also they an ephemera section which is interesting.

Thanks aghcollect for coming up with the correct name from the maker stamp. Helps a lot with that for a starting point.
"Vitreous" is the name/type of glaze that was used.
