It's a listed embossing error according to some members on the bottle forum, but it was still an exciting find for me in this 'Forest Green' pre-1920s Brookfield insulator.
The insulator was rather unassuming, so I assume that the collector who had it for sale didn't give it much of a glance, as he totally missed that it says "FED", not "ELD," at the end of Brookfield.
By the time the mould engraver got to the "E", he realised his mistake, as he never finished the top bar in it; but, of course, the damage was done and he didn't care to peen (hammer) it out.
My dog was most excited when I showed him.

Thank you, Viking Girl. I took that pic only cuz I saw him looking excited in the camera. Otherwise, it's very out of focus. LOL.
