Just finished the yearly trimming of the two Ilex aquifolium which stand guard at either side of the garden entrance to my library. There has been I.a. in this country since the beginning of time. It seeds itself willingly, so each year I have to remove lots of small I.a. in unwanted places. As I'm sure you'll agree, I'm not an expert on topiary works. This is the best I can do. Blackbirds like to build their nests in them. The thorny leaves protect them against natures egg robbers.
Nice job...and probably necessary so you don’t get jabbed using that door! ;^)
True. The work produces an enormous amount of clippings. Thick gloves necessary to remove them.
