Charming Victorian glass jam dish with well designed prominent opalescent vertical ribs which stretch from the fluted top to the smooth polished pontil. Vaseline pinch work around the circumference suggests it sat inside a metal holder. Stourbridge made - S & W or Webb? Made in last 15 years of 19th century. Smaller than usual dimensions to the other dishes I've featured.
Such a beautiful design that reminds me of a sea urchin. Your glass collection is truly fabulous & elegant, each piece is a delight
Newfld, I'm thrilled that you love this particular item. I've loved cranberry, vaseline opalescent glass for quite a long time and to collect these colors in jam dishes has always been a goal of mine. Hopefully, I'll find find a few more specimens.
