The inscription "Shangfang zuo jing zhen da qiao…" is a signature formula of Shangfang mirrors from this era.
The layout of 12 nipples, TLV patterns, and Four Divine Beasts matches the canonical design of Bosiju mirrors from this period.
The border of sawtooth and double zigzag patterns is a hallmark of high-grade mirrors from the Xin Mang to Mid-Eastern Han.
2. Iconography & Cosmology
TLV (Bosiju) Pattern: The central square with T, L, V motifs embodies the Han worldview: the square represents earth, the circle represents heaven, and the TLV lines mirror the liubo board game, symbolizing cosmic order.
Mythical Beasts: The Four Divine Beasts (Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, Black Tortoise) and auspicious birds occupy the eight sections, reflecting Han beliefs in immortality and directional worship.
Twelve Nipples: The 12 raised studs correspond to the 12 earthly branches, marking the cyclical concept of time in Han thought.

Patina: Layered, uneven green/blue corrosion penetrates the metal, with crystalline rust in crevices—clear proof of long-term underground burial, no artificial chemical patina.
Casting: Sharp, hand-cast details with visible wear on high points, consistent with 2,000 years of history.
Reverse: The unpolished back retains the raw bronze texture and natural corrosion layers, a definitive sign of genuine burial context.
