The cone shape tip is spring loaded. It rotates and when pushed in slightly it starts the timer which can be reset the lever on the side
The small knob is the winder for the timer
Trying to work out its exact purpose
I think it is from 1909








It would have been used to count how many times something would turn like a conveyor or mechanical shaft in factories or workshops. There would have been a clamp to hold it stationary and the cone would touch whatever was being counted and as it turned whenever the mark passed by it would push the cone and the counter would register it.
