I just picked up these two chairs, both have roses carved on the top of the chairs. I think the roses are hand craved as they don't match. Looking for info as to what kind of wood it is,the age,and maybe where they were made. I don't find any markings on the chairs. Hoping someone out there can help. Thank you for any info you could give me.

It is a little hard to tell the wood from the photos, but the graining that I can see would indicate that they are walnut.

My first reaction is that they were made in the last 50 years-- the cut out below the rose is not typical Victorian.

Can you post a photograph of the underside of the chairs-- it may help to confirm.
