This collection has 20 cookbooks in it. I got them at an estate sale last summer and I love them. They have fun odd recipies in them, alot of which call for MSG as an ingredient. Each book contains up to 190 recipies, and in each preface there are cooking methods explained and definitions. They were published 1954-1957. Some of the titles include: Entertaining six or eight, Sunday night Suppers, Elegant Desserts, The Ground Meat Cookbook, The Hungarian, The French, The Italian, The Scandinavian, The German and Viennse Cookbook, Quick Dishes for the Woman in a Hurry and there are more. I also got a 7-up pamphlet containing recipies using 7-up. And finally a 1962 copy of Heloise's Housekeeping Hints - which is fantastic! one hint- Iron your clothes fresh out of the freezer! -=o)

Have you tried any of the recipes? I use to collect cookbooks (got out of hand....lol) and would actually try recipes from my much older ones. I have several that are shown and some of the recipes are very good. Even my son tried some for his cooking class around the world dishes. So much information in them that you don't find in cookbooks today.

This is a GREAT find. I have many of these and I have been collecting for 20 years, but to find this all together is wonderful. It's just fun to reasd the recipes and gawk at the graphic design and illustration and copywriting. Enjoy! I"m jealous!!

The old recipes are so much better than the new ones. For example: My husband's Grand mother died with her recipe for Banana Nut Bread. (real Moist)
I tried and tried, on line, todays cookbook kings and queens....nothing was just right. Found one in one of my vintage books was right on the money. So I did the same with corn bread and oatmeal cookies just to name a few. I also feel if you do it right you can have an excellent recipe without perservitives like "back in the day",
